SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 28 — Prosecutors questioned IOC vice president Kim Un-yong on Monday about allegations that he collected illicit money from former South Korean Olympic officials and embezzled funds from taekwondo organizations.
''I will explain everything to prosecutors,'' Kim told reporters before entering the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office.

Kim, the world taekwondo chief, has been plagued by scandals involving him and his family. Kim has denied any wrongdoing.

Earlier this month, South Korean prosecutors raided Kim's house and offices, seizing a private safe and documents. The move was highly unusual because Kim was a national legislator.

Kim turned himself in for questioning Friday, demanding that prosecutors question him so that he could clear himself. Prosecutors said they were not ready, and ordered him to return for questioning Monday.

Prosecutors suspect Kim of embezzling funds from the World Taekwondo Federation, which Kim has been heading for three decades, and from the World Taekwondo Headquarters, a Seoul-based institute that issues taekwondo credentials, Kim's aide had said earlier.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency said prosecutors were also questioning Kim over the origins of U.S. dollar bills and other foreign currency totaling $1.5 million they found in Kim's home, as well as allegations that he received shady money in return for helping two men become members of the Korean Olympic Committee.
Kim is South Korea's best-known sports official and a longtime member of the IOC. Kim helped taekwondo to become a formal medal event in the Olympics in 2000.
Kim lost a bid for the International Olympic Committee's top job in 2001, but returned to the IOC's highest echelons in July when he was elected vice president.
At home, scandals continued for Kim, forcing him to step down as head of South Korea's Taekwondo Association in 2001. He remains head of the sport's world governing body.

Kim also resigned as head of the Korea Sports Council and the Korea Olympic Committee last year. Kim had led the two organizations since 1993.
