Yang: "Active" or "positive."
In ying-yang theory, male, aggressive, active, light, etc. The positive
aspect associated with what is described as centrifugal, expansive and
extroversive.
Yari: Spear.
Yikwon: Backfist.
Yin: "Passive" or "negative." Female,
receptive, passive, dark, etc.
One of the fundamental metaphysical elements of yin-yang whose balance
is believed to be the center of existence.
Yojimbo: "Bodyguard." The name given to a
masterless samurai (ronin) who hired themselves out as professional
bodyguards.
Yoko: "Side" or "lateral."
Yoko aruki: One of the unique ninja walking techniques
to move stealthily through woods or narrow areas.
Yoko gake: Side body drop.
Yoko geri: Side kick.
Yoko guruma: Side wheel.
Yoko haitto: Side ridge-hand.
Yoko kekome: Side thrust kick.
Yoko otoshi: Side drop.
Yoko shio gatame: Side four corner hold.
Yoko shuto: Side knife-hand.
Yok sudo: Ridge hand.
Yoko tobo geri: Jump side kick.
Yoko wakare: Side separation.
Yonsok: Combination.
Yuan: (yoo-ahn) circular motion
Yubi: Finger.
Yubi tori: Finger pull
Yudansha: One who is a black belt
Yu-Chia: (yoo chee-ah) Chinese yoga, a balance of internal
and external exercises.
