Lancer
Rank Insignia

The Elite-Fighters System of martial
arts has adopted insignia to represent each rank of the system. Insignia
are symbols that are designed to give meaning beyond the image that
they represent. The development of symbols follow the pattern from an
actual object - to an image of that object - finally to the symbol that
metaphorically represents the object and imparts deeper meaning to the
initiated.
The objects from which we derive symbols
for the Elite-Fighters Ranking Insignia come from the six main armor
pieces of the Roman Centurion. The Roman Centurions are considered,
by historians, as the greatest warriors that the world has known until
the modernization of warfare in the last two centuries. The Romans conquered
their enemy and then assimilated them into their government to form
the amalgamated Roman Empire. The Elite-Fighters System of Martial Arts
has taken the approach of the Roman Empire to conquer the martial art
systems and amalgamate them into the most efficient and unique martial
art in modern history.
The objects representing the Lancer
Rank are the weapons of the centurion - the pilum, gladius
and maul. The pilum is the centurion's javelin, or spear. The gladius
is the sword, and the maul is a blunt instrument used to shatter the
shields and armour of the enemy. The Insignia contains a sword representing
the studies of bladed weapons, a spear representing our long range weapons
(firearms) and a maul representing our stick fighting methods. This
rank introduces you to the study of the use of bladed weapons, and advanced
ground fighting techniques. The nature of this rank involves matters
concerning life and death. The student's spiritual life is to be strongly
emphasized at this rank. Spirit, therefore, is the hidden meaning of
the Lancer Insignia.
