Protector Rank Insignia

Insignia of the Protector Rank

The Elite-Fighters System of martial arts has adopted insignia to represent each rank of the system. Insignia are symbols that are designed to give meaning beyond the image that they represent. The development of symbols follow the pattern from an actual object - to an image of that object - finally to the symbol that metaphorically represents the object and imparts deeper meaning to the initiated.

The objects from which we derive symbols for the Elite-Fighters Ranking Insignia come from the six main armor pieces of the Roman Centurion. The Roman Centurions are considered, by historians, as the greatest warriors that the world has known until the modernization of warfare in the last two centuries. The Romans conquered their enemy and then assimilated them into their government to form the amalgamated Roman Empire. The Elite-Fighters System of Martial Arts has taken the approach of the Roman Empire to conquer the martial art systems and amalgamate them into the most efficient and unique martial art in modern history.

The object representing the Protector Rank is the shield of the centurion, or scutum. The scutum protected the centurion from armed attacks. While in a tight phalanx battle formation, the centurions would form a wall with their scutum to deflect the arrows that would rain down upon the front lines. Centurions covered their scutum with leather and would soak them in water prior to combat to extinguish the flames of flaming arrows. The insignia is symbolized by a large rectangle representing the scutum. The Protector Rank introduces you to the Offensive/Defensive Methods of Fighting, Ground Fighting, Stick Fighting, Immobilization Methods and Combat Analysis. The Protector Rank requires complete faith in your defensive skills. Faith, therefore, is the hidden meaning of the insignia for the Protector Rank.
