Mentor
Qualifications
- A Mentor is one who
has already become ranked in the level that he wishes to mentor.
Duties - A Mentor is to work under supervision of
a qualified instructor. He/she may give assistance in running drills,
demonstrating combat scenarios and helping students with difficulties
accomplishing specific tasks. The mentor may also begin teaching low
level tasks; such as, basics, combinations and combat scenarios of
the level that he/she has ranked in.
Example:
John has just become ranked as an Enforcer Level.
His instructor has assigned him to become a mentor to the students
working on the Guardsman level. He will be allowed to guide the
students in the warm-ups, auxiliary drills and assist in explaining
the movements of the practice combat scenarios.
A Mentor is very important in the development of the good instructors.
While the mentor explains how to do certain tasks, while under the
guidance of a qualified instructor, he/she will get immediate feedback
from his/her instructor if the information given is incorrect. This
interchange of the mentor shadowing the instructor and the student
shadowing the mentor develops strong interpersonal bonds, thus strengthening
the overall structure of the school, and therefore, retention rate
increases.
