Specific Execution Qualities
Scoring System

The Elite-Fighters System scoring system is designed to rank individuals being testing for advancement. The Ranking Trials requires the following Specific Execution Qualities to be examined:

  • Timing - 3 points total
  • Decision Making - 3 points total
  • Control of Opponent - 3 points total
  • Safety Control - 3 points total
  • Accuracy - 3 points total

Timing is the ability to apply movements and basics at the proper time in relation to your opponent, your environment and yourself. Timing errors include: having your footwork out of sequence with your hand strikes; striking your opponent before his body has had time to react from previous blows, blocking too soon or too late; etc.

Decision Making is the ability to change a course of action. Good decision making is apparent when you start out with the intention to strike a certain target, and if it becomes available, to find a new target without delay. Bad decision making is apparent when you apply the wrong basics or strike to a certain stimulus. For example, an opponent fakes low with a kick to bait your downward block, only to then punch you in the face because you left it open.

Control of Opponent is the ability force your opponent to react in a predictable manner through the use of strikes, blocks, joint locks and other basics. To have good control of your opponent you must have all possible accidental and unintentional reactions of your opponent checked, or prevented from causing injury to you.

Safety Control is the ability to work with partners and demonstrating techniques and sequences without harming him. Pulling punches short of contact, or applying joint locks without dislocating joint is a demonstration of safety control. The Elite-Fighters are always able to strike with full power when in combat situations, and yet perform safely whenever in training.

Accuracy is the ability to strike and block with precision. This is related to proper form, however it involves the ability to apply form against the opponent and environment.

This category is an overall score taken throughout the trials.
